Unit Description

This unit builds directly upon the foundations of Dramatic Arts 1. The skills and techniques of that unit will be developed as students put on a production. Students may chose either to engage in performance or production aspects depending upon their involvement in Dramatic Arts 1 in consultation with the academic in charge. In either case, skills and techniques will be expanded upon as student’s focus upon script interpretation as relevant to their area; for example, character development or set design.

This unit will continue to develop the student’s performance and / or production skills and techniques by engaging them in both the interpretation of a script and the engagement of necessary skills required of a full scale production. Genre and historical class work and other research work will be included as relevant to the chosen play.

Throughout this unit students will be encouraged to reflect upon their understanding and experience of the dramatic arts in relationship to the Christian faith and spirituality.

This unit has a very high practical component and attendance is of great importance. It may require extra time out of regular class hours to produce the performance. This will be discussed early in the semester and will be included in the general class expectations and must be attended.
