Unit Description

This unit examines how Christian faith and spirituality impacts our understanding of, and engagement with, the visual arts. Students will explore how the visual arts have been and are being engaged to communicate, with a particular emphasis on exploring issues or topics of faith. Through the development of a themed class exhibition, students will further expand their creative process abilities and their abilities of creative communication as they explore the involvement of the visual arts in contemporary culture. Students will need to work individually and together to put on a successful and group devised exhibition. Some of this will be done in class time but students will also be expected to work on this outside of class time. The class project may be presented in its final form at a time outside of regular class hours.
