On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Explore professional identity and engagement using a synthesis of National Standards for Teachers, legal, ethical and Christian dimensions
Critically review policies (at legislative, administrative and organisational levels) and processes required for teachers, such as duty of care, inclusion, mandatory reporting, use of ICT, etc
Analyse school and system wide strategies that support student well-being and safety, including their impact on curriculum and policy development
Evaluate strategies for involving parents / carers in educative processes and develop strategies for working effectively, sensitively and confidently with them.
Develop strategies to transition to the teaching profession
This unit enables students to explore the wider legal and regulatory environment within which schools sit. They will examine policies, professional and ethical codes that impact the teaching profession. They will review these from a Christian perspective.

This unit may be available in different modes of delivery i.e. online and face-to-face as listed above. The unit content will not differ between these modes of delivery. There will possibly be a difference in the schedule and/or the prescribed assessment tasks, however both will cover and assess the same content.
