On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Select and organise content, providing scope and sequence for effective learning and teaching.
Integrate ICT into planning and teaching appropriate to the learning and teaching context.
Plan and organise a unit of work demonstrating scope and sequences according to appropriate content, student learning needs and effective teaching strategies.
Communicate a high level of knowledge and understanding of the structure and substance of the learning area appropriate to the students’ learning needs and incorporating Christian perspectives.
Examine curriculum and assessment for the senior years of schooling appropriate to the method.
Analyse and evaluate literacy and numeracy needs and recommend strategies to develop literacy and numeracy relevant to the method and level of student needs.
Examine alternative pathways for students with a wide variety of educational needs and aspirations.
This unit introduces the practical content and pedagogical knowledge that student teachers need in preparing students undertaking Art as a VCE subject. The content will address the VCAA units design, themes, styles, techniques, art history knowledge and the development of experiences and folio work for students. It will also address the pedagogical knowledge in teaching Art skills, techniques and knowledge and the particular ways teachers need to assess and provide feedback on the students’ assignments that promote further learning and success.
