Unit Description

This overview unit will provide students with the historical framework and conceptual tools to more fully understand the world they live in. It will explore key political, economic and social developments since 1945: the nature and consequences of the Cold War, the end of colonialism, the end of the Cold War, changing international power relationships in the last 20 years, and the emergence of the new economic Asian super powers.

Teaching Strategies

Teaching strategies include some or all of the following: lectures, tutorials and workshops, all of which include the use of digital technologies; online interactions e.g. forums, message boards; web-based research; group work; class discussions; excursions; and guest presenters.
