This unit will focus on refining writing so that it will engage audiences and challenge students in writing for different audiences and purposes. Unique features of each genre will be analysed and experimented with so that writing skills can be enhanced. There will be an emphasis on experimenting and developing writing with students having opportunities to engage with both the lecturer and other students in the drafting and editing process. Writing will comprise both fiction and non-fiction texts. The classes will provide a variety of stimulus material to analyse and use as prompts for writing, including the notion of ‘writing beside writers’.
